Health Workers Need Coaching!

The NHS celebrated its 75th birthday last year. Its accomplishments are truly outstanding. I have worked in the NHS for over 40 years, but it seems to be increasingly in crisis.

  • Doctors and other health professionals have barely recovered from the stresses of the Covid pandemic.

  • 170,000 professionals have left the NHS whilst disillusion and early retirement have also affected staffing levels especially at senior grades

  • There is a recruitment crisis in the NHS and many are having to work longer hours and cover for absences on rotas.

  • Increased workloads cause increased stress, exacerbated by long waiting lists and unfilled posts.

  • Public support, which was so strong during the crisis, is at its lowest ebb.

  • Workplace bullying and sexism are common.

  • Whistleblowers are victimised and sacked and their protections ignored.

  • Stress is at an all time high.

As an NHS professional, you may be concerned about your future. You may feel lost, stressed, close to burn-out and considering leaving the NHS altogether. You remember a time when you were able to do the job so much better than you can now.

Despite your best efforts, you may feel undervalued and unsupported. The support offered, if any, does not address the causes of your stress and distress, whilst the care you are able to provide feels inadequate. Any action that you take to try to make things better may be met with aggression and even discipline.

A trained executive coach will give you a confidential space to evaluate your career and understand your personal goals. You will find yourself exploring solutions and discovering a pathway out of your current circumstances to a better future and career. Coaching is unique because it is more about listening and supporting than about giving advice. It gives you the time and the freedom to work things out for yourself. You will find a new direction for the next part of your career. I've been there and I know exactly how you feel. You can book a free confidential no-obligation 30 minute conversation here.

I send out occasional emails with links my latest content, blogs, vlogs, newsletters and podcasts, to share coaching ideas and resources, and issues of concern within Health Care.
