Empowering people, one at a time

Empowering people, one at a time

My Story

I'm a doctor. I have worked in the NHS for over 40 years. After changing speciality several times I was proud to become a Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist in 1991. I loved seeing and talking to patients. However, little did I know that after almost 20 years, I would find a new career path - as a Medical Expert, Board Member, Medical Teacher, Executive Coach and Part-Time Locum.

Having left full time NHS practice I became self-employed, and experienced the uncertainty of not having a regular income and dealing with the enhanced responsibility of running my own small company.

The NHS is under pressure and many people have lost career focus. As a Healthcare worker you may feel unable to do the job as well as you used to. You may feel you are  'going through the motions' but do not know how to improve things.

If you are setting up your own business, or moving on from employment to self employment, you may also feel a loss of focus and direction. I understand the joys and frustrations of making such a change, and can help you focus on your future.

I have a passion to help staff both in the NHS and in other industries through Coaching. I can help you to clearly identify your options and opportunities so that you will move into the next and most fulfilling phase of your career.

How do I Coach?

I practice active listening, allowing you to check your goals, explore ideas, issues, options and solutions, and to test them to determine actions. Coaching is about self development and career progression; it is mainly work focussed but discussions invariably involve work/life issues.

Coaching is a personal and career development process where solutions are self defined without being directed by the Coach, although a good Coach will challenge your options, aspirations and commitment.

Coaching is individually planned on a 1 to 1 basis, following an initial no-obligation 30 minute conversation which you can book here. I recommend a series of 90-minute sessions, usually by Videoconference, every 2-4 weeks.

Coaching is a skilled activity, and as a Trained Executive Coach with a Masters Level qualification (ILM7), and 40+ years experience in the NHS, I have the skills and experience to coach you.
